True Seeker Pt 2

We cannot fool God about anything because he searches the deepest part of our life
Jeremiah 29:13-14
So often in we have our quite time, our heart is always wondering. Each time you do what you enjoy, you are never bored but when it comes to prayer, we are usually sleepy.
The natural tendency of man is to label people. We are constantly looking for the gift / present rather than his presence. We look for miracle instead of the miracle worker. We play the game of “churchianity” instead of being follower of Christ.

True followers:
1. Thomas
John 14:1-7 was addressed to Thomas.
Jesus never rebuked Thomas because his question was from a sincere heart. John 11:1-25
Revelation precedes boldness
John 20:24-28
When we get hurt, we don’t only withdraw from fellowship but also from God.
However, God has loved you with his inseparable love.
Thomas came to the point in which he said my Lord and my God and there was no turning back afterwards.

Mustard seed destined for greatness

We become inferior to ourself because we think there is someone better than us. This is based on assumption and may not be the fact.
We shouldn’t let our assumption take priority in our lives.
1 Sam 16:7
Assumption: suppose to be the case but without proof
We need to go further to understand the full picture. Relying on assumption is synonymous to being a fool Prov 18:2.
It is your choice to choose whether you want your assumption to rule your life. God is holding on to us but are we holding on to our assumptions too?
Holding on to our assumption limits God

Examples of people destined for greatness but with insignificant beginning

1. Gideon
Judges 6:12
Judges 6:25-27
Judges 8:22

2. Esther
Est 2:9,15
Matt 5:11-12

3. Paul
Act 9:20-21
Just one encounter with God changed him forever

The reason why it takes time before God answers our prayer is because we still hold on to our past. Obedience is key. There is no room for both God and idol.
Let go of your idol

True Seeker

In the darkest moment of our life, it’s the word of God that keeps us and makes us go thru all challenges.
Are you a true seeker of the word of God? God gave us his command but also a decision or choice. The reason for the choice is because God loves us unconditionally. Jer 29:13
There is a way God wants us to seek him and that’s seeking him with all of our heart. In the Bible, Jesus never dealt with 2 people the same way. The same thing he does for us. He writes personal invitation.
John 3:1-17
Nicodemus risked everything just to be with Jesus. Though his action made him like a coward but he still came to Jesus. One night with Jesus changed his life
John 7:45-52, John 19:38-42
Nicodemus was a true seeker though he came at night. If you are a genuine seeker of God, you will find God.

Consider your ways

Topic: Consider your ways
Haggai 1:1-15
These people are not bad people and they love God but they went back to the busyness of their life and say that it’s not time for God’s house to be rebuilt. The people love God but their priority has shifted. They had misplaced priority.
You can do all the right thing and still not get favorable result. Have you asked yourself why you have a problem in your life? The reason why you don’t ask is because you are scared of the answer because the answer is you.
There is a hole in every situation that’s why you have problem of sowing much and reaping little. We need to consider our ways so as to go into new thing that God has promised.
Consider your ways means reflect on your life or think about your life.
The people are not fruitful because God was not their priority. We also get caught up with so many things that we neglect God.
When you cut back on the things of God (e.g tithe, going to church), we have leakages in everything we do. Don’t cut back on God
God is no respecter of anybody but he favors whoever is faithful. That hole will not be patched unless you put God as priority.
Is God forgotten in your life?

Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path

The word of God takes us thru every moment in our life. There are 22 sections in Psalms 119 with 8 verses in each section. Number 8 means new beginning.
The number of the beast is 666 while numerical translation of Jesus is 888 which signifies strong attestation of new beginning.
Psalm 119:105
Sometimes we try to compare light with lamp but they are incomparable.
The word of God shows us the path. It teaches us discipline. When the word of God is a lamp to your feet, it only gives you enough light for you to step. It means taking one step at a time and relying completely on God.
We want to figure everything out but God doesn’t want us to worry.
If culture is your compass or any other man-made compass, then you will fail. Your compass should be the word of God.

Lamp is for the night, light is for the day
Matt 7:13-14
The one life we have on Earth is not the destination. Life begins when you die #EternalLife
All we need to do is to trust in God

The Lord’s Prayer

Matt 6:9-13
God has to be the foundation of all we do. The 66 words in the Lord’s prayer addresses our physical, spiritual, now and future needs. If we don’t send our prayers to the right place, it won’t be delivered.
If we send to heaven, it will never return void. It is a love letter to our Father in Heaven. It has a beginning, content and closure.
The letter was written with a date: ‘this day’

The order of the letter:

A. Introduction
Oh u are father: when we recognize our father then he will be able to bless us abundantly

B. 3 petitions relating to God
1. Hallowed be thy name
It means referencing God. We need to give Glory to God
2. The kingdom come
This is the purpose of God in our life which is to pray for his kingdom should come
3. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven
This should be our priority

C. 3 petitions relating to Us
1. Give us this day our daily bread
Daily bread is for nourishing. He wants us to come to him for every bit of sustenance
He knows what we need more than what we want
2. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors
God doesn’t want us to ask for daily bread alone but to ask for forgiveness. It’s a plea of grace
3. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
Forgiving us now is great but God knows that as soon as we walk out we will be tempted and that’s why we need to ask God daily to keep us fresh
When we are very confident about our life, that’s the most dangerous time in our life

D. Conclusion
For thing is the kingdom and the power and the glory for ever. Amen

Christ was mentioned 555 times in the Bible
31,102 verses in the KJV Bible

Open my eyes

The word of God speaks down into our being and brings life. Psalm 119:18
Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.
Yhwh – God’s name was so refereed that it cannot be pronounced in in its entirety and they pronounce Yhwh instead of Yahweh.
Yhwh is from the Hebrew letters is interpreted as God giving his (10) commandments with grace such that when man go against the commandment, he can be restored and forgiven by grace.
If we cannot see what God is doing, then God can do nothing in our lives. The law being the Torah means instruction or teaching. Help me see wonderful things in your instructions

3 Step truth
1. Only when you see things that are behind the law then you can appreciate the law. Having and knowing the word of God is the key for a life of holiness and purpose
There are wonderful things God is teaching us. 2 Corinthians 3:18
The Glory of God was reflected upon Moses. When you spend time with God, his Glory wraps you up. When we read the Bible without the teaching of God, the Bible becomes another event.
2. No one can see the wonderful things for what they really are without God’s supernatural help

3. We must pray to God for supernatural illumination when we read the Bible

When we experience the power of God, we don’t become sinless but sin less. It’s not about proving yourself right but in the power of Jesus.

The ultimate goal of life

We need to have passion for God’s word, trust in him and lean not on our understanding.
Psalm 119 is all about the word

According to Psalm 119:11, hidden is translated to treasured
The ultimate goal of life
1. To glorify God by enjoying him forever
2. Or we could say the ultimate goal is not to sin
Because I didn’t sin, I can glorify God thereby enjoying him

important phrases in Psalm 119:11
1. The word: The word of God is not subjective but objective. Subjective is situational. Objective is taking the word of God in entirety. Do not underestimate the word of God

2. I have treasured: what do you call treasure? Treasure in Hebrew is tsaphan which means to hide or store

3. In my heart: The word of God from the book has to go from outside to inside (in the heart). It must be written on the tablet of out heart.

The meaning of the heart used in the old testament is the organ used for thinking and feeling. Gen 6:5
A heart is a store house Job 36:13
If you store up God’s word in your heart, it works inside and manifest on the outside Proverb 23:7

The Bible (Part 3)

Psalm 118:8 is the center of the Bible. Don’t trust man, man will fail you
Matt 4:1-4
The devil was questioning the position of Jesus that’s what the temptation is all about. Jesus overcame the temptation by the word.
The temptation of Jesus is to serve as an example to us so that when we go thru temptations we will stand and not fall.
Deut 8 is what Jesus was quoting i.e it is written. Bread is necessary but not sufficient alone. By every word that proceed out of the mouth of God we should live.
Most times we have regarded the word of God as duty rather than a privilege Acts 17:11.
We need to be open to the word of God and stop being familiar with the word of God. When you hear the word of God, do not harden your heart and read it to show yourself approved.
No compromise for the word of God Heb 4:12. Many of us go thru the word of God instead of letting the word of God go thru us
Start reading the word of God today and let the word of God go thru you

The Bible (Part 2)

The King James version (KJV) bible is the only authorized version and it was out in the 1500. Feeding of the 5000 is the only miracle in all 4 Gospels. The book of Acts is mostly regarded as 2nd Luke.

Barnabas was an encourager. When everybody rejected Paul he took him and when everybody rejected John Mark, he accepted mark. Epistles are divided into Pauline Epistles and general Epistles.
General epistles: Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2nd Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and Jude
13 Pauline Epistles and others are general epistles

Book of prophecy: Revelation

The word is inspired by the word of God. The christian faith is based on the Bible. A key doctrine in Christianity is the inerrancy of scripture, meaning the Bible is original and its handwritten state is without error. The Bible itself claims to be the inspired word of God or God-breathe. 2 Tim 3:16

In old testament salvation is rooted in deliverance from sin while in the New testament, it is through Jesus

Canonization of scripture is needed because there were many books floating around in the early church and so much of people were dying for books which are not worth dying for. Canon refers to measuring rod or yardstick for true word of God. The complete Bible in 397AD i.e. 27 books of the new testament were formalized.

20 of the new testament has been generally accepted, the remaining 7 had to go through canonization. Authoritative, dynamic, generally accepted, prophetic and authentic are the yardstick used for canonization of scripture

Psalm 119:89. God’s word is settled and not evolving. Everything came into existence thru the word of God.
If you believe on the word of God then hold on to it else leave it. When we take God’s word, we need to take it in entirety and not pick and choose. God is showing his love, salvation and to make you live a holy life.

There is no middle ground, we must accept the Bible as exactly what it claims to be: God’s verbally inspired and infallible word
